Emma Tompkins is a Freelance Costume, Set and Puppetry designer and educator. She specialises in New Writing, Theatre for Young Audiences, Devised and Physical Theatre. She has designed productions for over 13 years and her work has toured internationally with the British Council. Emma is also a design facilitator with the National Theatre and has taught and facilitated at institutions including Central St Martins, Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and Goldsmiths. She is a Committee member of the Society of British Theatre Designers and writes regularly for their blog. She is currently writing a book for teachers, students and professionals, containing exercises for approaching set design, to be published by Nick Hern Books.
